Pet Spay and Neuter
Spaying or neutering your pet is a responsible choice that protects both their health and the health of the larger pet community. Our team at Atwater Veterinary Center performs safe, compassionate pet spays and neuters in Atwater, CA, for dogs, cats, and some small mammals.
What Is Spay & Neuter Surgery?
Spaying is the surgical removal of a female animal’s ovaries and uterus, while neutering removes a male’s testicles. These procedures are common, low-risk, and offer long-term health and behavioral benefits.
At Atwater Veterinary Center, your pet’s comfort and fast recovery are our foremost focus. Our surgical team prioritizes safety, comfort, and post-operative care so your pet recovers smoothly.

Our spay and neuter services include:

Sedated Procedure Policy
Please note that if you must cancel or reschedule your pet’s appointment, cancelling or rescheduling must be done 24 hours in advance of your pet’s appointment; not doing so will result in the loss of your deposit.
Surgical check-ins can take 15 to 20 minutes. This time can increase if you do not complete check-in forms prior to your check-in time; please allow yourself this time for check-in. A staff member will call you to schedule a discharge time; this can be any time between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Please keep in mind that we have several surgeries per day. The doctor decides the order of surgery after all pets have been checked in and examined.
Please do not allow your pet to eat any food or treat(s) after 9 PM the night before your pet’s procedure. Water is okay.
For Rabbits and Gerbils only: Please bring a small amount of your pet’s food so they may eat postoperatively.
Please be advised that we do not provide emergency care after operating hours.
We recommend a recovery period of 10 to 14 days.
