Pet Dental Care
Just like humans, pets need routine dental care to stay healthy and pain-free. Atwater Veterinary Center provides professional veterinary dentistry and oral surgery services for dogs and cats, including cleanings, extractions, and advanced treatment for dental disease. Book an exam to have your pet’s teeth evaluated.
What Is Veterinary Dental Care?
Veterinary dental care is a specialized branch of medicine focused on the health of your pet’s teeth, gums, and oral cavity. Just like in human dentistry, the goal is to prevent, diagnose, and treat dental disease before it causes pain or leads to systemic complications.
At Atwater Veterinary Center, our team is trained in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, utilizing advanced tools to assess and treating your pet’s mouth with precision and care. We perform pet dental cleanings under anesthesia to give your pet a complete, pain-free cleaning and a thorough evaluation.

Why Pet Dental Health Matters
Up to 80% of pets over the age of 3 have some form of dental disease. Left untreated, it can lead to:
- Painful tooth loss
- Infection spreading to the heart, liver, or kidneys
- Difficulty eating and behavioral changes
Routine cleanings can prevent serious complications and extend your pet’s lifespan.
The Benefits of Veterinary Dentistry
- Healthier teeth and gums
- Fresher breath
- Reduced risk of infection and disease
- Less pain and improved appetite
- Early detection of oral tumors or abnormalities
Sedated Procedure Policy
Please note that if you must cancel or reschedule your pet’s appointment, cancelling or rescheduling must be done 24 hours in advance of your pet’s appointment; not doing so will result in the loss of your deposit.
Surgical check-ins can take 15 to 20 minutes. This time can increase if you do not complete check-in forms prior to your check-in time; please allow yourself this time for check-in. A staff member will call you to schedule a discharge time; this can be any time between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Please keep in mind that we have several surgeries per day. The doctor decides the order of surgery after all pets have been checked in and examined.
Please do not allow your pet to eat any food or treat(s) after 9 PM the night before your pet’s procedure. Water is okay.
For Rabbits and Gerbils only: Please bring a small amount of your pet’s food so they may eat postoperatively.
Please be advised that we do not provide emergency care after operating hours.
